Teeth Whitening For Brighter And Whiter Teeth

Lot of peoples are suffering from stains and discolorations on their teeth.
This may be happen due to  smoking, taking certain medications, or consuming foods and beverages such as coffee and tea.

Through a chemical process a dental expert can bleach your teeth by two methods. He can do an in-office procedure, or provide you with a system to use at home.

Treatment begins when your dentist creates a custom mouthpiece to ensure the correct amount of whitening solution is used and that your teeth are properly exposed. You can opt teeth whitening treatments at home, but this will take some time to get the complete result. In office whitening can take place in one or more 45- to 60-minute visits.
This cosmetic procedure can complete by two treatment methods

Vital Whitening

The most common type of vital tooth whitening uses a gel-like whitening solution that is applied directly to the tooth surface. This product contains some form of hydrogen peroxide.
In-office (chairside) whitening allows your dentist to use a more powerful whitening gel. A specialized light or laser activates the gel and allows bleaching to happen faster.

Non-Vital Whitening

Vital whitening may not improve the appearance of a tooth that has had root-canal treatment because the stain is coming from the inside of the tooth. If this is the case, your dentist will use a different procedure that whitens the tooth from the inside. He or she will place a whitening agent inside the tooth and put a temporary filling over it. The tooth will be left this way for several days.

Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. But this cosmetic procedure is not recommended for everyone.

Improve The Aesthetics Of Tooth By Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are also known as porcelain veneers or porcelain laminates. These materials are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These kinds of shells will help front teeth to change their color, shape, size, or length by bonding. This will give you the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel.

There are mainly two types of materials in order to fabricate the veneers. Those are composite and dental porcelain

The composite veneers may be directly applied to the front teeth, or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated
Porcelain laminate veneers consist of a compilation of several thin ceramic layers which replace original tooth enamel, and an adhesive layer. To apply a veneer, a very small amount of the original tooth enamel must be removed, usually less than a millimeter. This is essential as it creates room for the porcelain veneer to fit within the mouth and most accurately restore natural tooth function while creating an even better appearance than the original tooth.

The veneers are used to fix the following problems.
-Teeth that are discolored either because of root canal treatment, stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or
other causes or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
-Teeth that are worn down
-Teeth that are chipped or broken
-Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)
-Teeth with gaps between them (to close the space between these teeth)

It is a good choice for fractured teeth, gaps between teeth, and in some situations where the tooth position is compromised and there are minor bite-related problems. For some people, superficial stains do not respond well to tooth whitening or bleaching. In these situations, a porcelain veneer may be the best option.

Geriatric Dentistry - Dental Care For Older Adults

Oral health is an important factor in our daily life. Geriatric dentistry is the delivery of dental treatments to older adults, in order to resolve the problems associated with their dental health.
This includes diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems associated with normal aging and age-related diseases with the help of dental experts.

Although genetics play a role in the health of teeth, and accidents do happen, some people view their teeth as optional, removable appendages.  But patients who recognize the importance of a healthy mouth and teeth, and their role in good nutrition and overall health, can help to ensure their teeth last a lifetime.

Follow the tips to keep your teeth healthy
  • Brush and floss regularly
  • Visit your dentist once in a month and follow the proper care to your teeth.
  • Don’t ignore warning signs of tooth or gum problems, which can include odor, bleeding, on and off pain, and teeth that wobble or wiggle.
  • If you do loose a tooth, be sure to replace it with an dental implant procedure or dental bridge so other teeth don’t shift and create an unstable environment that can lead to poor bite, decay, breakage and malnutrition.
  • Follow the advice of your dentist about avoiding and correcting problems and caring for your vintage mouth and teeth.

By adopting healthy oral habits at home, making smart choices about diet and lifestyle, and seeking regular dental care, you can help your teeth last a lifetime. With regular dental visits and overall healthy habits you can take control of your oral health – whether you have your natural teeth, implants or wear dentures.
